Venus and the bat!

A clear and still dusk tonight - ideal for spotting bats. This one, joined briefly by another, wheeled and swooped back and forth as I tried to get photos, not very successfully, as can be seen. The pics do give some idea of the bat's movements though, don't they?

An absolutely beautiful evening. Venus can still be seen in the background.

  1. Good grief, Lesley, I don't know how on earth you managed to capture a bat on camera!! Well done you!!!! :O)))))))))

  2. "twinkle twinkle little bat, how I wonder where your at" ... was that Lewis Carol? I love evenings like that, bats are magical creatures.

I have enjoyed seeing more of your spectacular coastal walks below. Lucky you to live so close.

  3. Congrats on the bat photos! They are just so quick, and can turn in a flash. I love watching them on a fine evening. If our security light is on, the moths flutter round it, and the bats treat it as a take-away bar!!

  4. Fantastic captures and what a title! - sounds like a Gothic novel to me.

  5. beautiful silhouettes in these shots~!~

i'm a big fan of bats too and used to have a dog that had a face that reminded me of bats every time i looked at it . . .

  6. Hi All, thanks for visiting and your comments, which are, as always much appreciated.

I'm tempted to try another 'tack' this evening should the bat return, taking continuous photos using the tripod for support. The sky is beautifully clear again but there's a stiffish breeze and this might deter insects, moths - and bats! x

  7. Lesley,

Bat bat come under my hat and I'll give you a slice of bacon. Bats like Bacon, so next time if you have some close they may zoom in and pose for you, but watch out!

  8. Did you make that little rhyme up Julie? I like it - makes me smile. Have a good weekend. x

  9. Bats are great Lesley. You did well to capture that one. We have them fly by our house at night but it is too dark to take photos then.

  10. Thanks Cathy. Talking of creatures that fly, I love your Oyster Catchers (Carolyn's blog) they're wonderful birds, aren't they? Lesley
