November Colours 2012

'November Colours 2012' A diptych, painted in acrylic and oil (81 x 50.5 x 2 cm) on narrow canvases, held together with connecting plates, so the artwork can be hung as shown or separated and hung with a larger gap between. That's not a fire on the bottom right by the way - just to preempt any assumptions!  The colours of November provided the starting point and inspiration, the landscape is a secondary development.  November can be dark, dreary and miserable, but there are moments and even some days when the colours are so strong and bright and wonderful This will be submitted to Penwith Society of Arts Winter Exhibition so please keep fingers crossed for me.  If not included in the above, 'November Colours' will be displayed in the Christmas Exhibition at Art Space Gallery . I was pleased to find today (13 Dec) that the painting has been accepted and will be included in the  Penwith Society of Arts Winter Exhibition 2012-13 , which opens on Sa

Choughs and Wild Coast

Thrilled to see Choughs in the wild today - for the first time ever - can't describe what the realisation of what was before my eyes felt like! Also got to see a 'mumuration' of starlings - no pics unfortunately. A fairly dark and cloudy November day Love this wild coast though Click to enlarge.  Copyright Lesley Ninnes.

Porthmeor and Porthgwidden inspired paintings

Unfortunately forgot to photograph the paintings below before taking to the framers - so please excuse the picture quality, as the frames are glazed!  Both paintings measure 29 x 20 cm and are float mounted in white wood frames measuring 56 x 46 cm. 'Porthgwidden Impression' oil on board. In this painting I'm imagining myself on Porthgwidden Beach, looking across St Ives Bay to Godrevy Lighthouse - the rock on the right is 'Merryn'.   SOLD 'Porthmeor - Open Space' oil on board.   SOLD This, I hope, captures the clarity often seen at Porthmeor and the way clouds are reflected in the slick of water ahead of the waves. They're not exhibited anywhere at the moment, but will probably end up at Art Space Gallery before long!  Click to enlarge.  Copyright Lesley Ninnes.

November seascapes

Sun and showers for the last few days, so pretty good so far  for the month of November.  Great cloud formations too. Six original seascapes in oil on board to show today. The first is my favourite and, believe it or not, there's quite a lot of 'flesh tint' mixed in with the colours used! 'Dark Sky, Pale Sea' 13.5 x 13.5 cm.  SOLD 'Brisk Day, Northerly' 13.5 x 13.5 cm.   SOLD 'End of Another Winter Day' 13.5 x 13.5 cm.   SOLD 'Calm Sea, Soft Sky' 13.5 x 13.5 cm.   SOLD 'Bright Sea View' 13.5 x 13.5 cm. SOLD 'Bracing Air & Breakers' 13.5 x 13.5 cm.   SOLD Click to enlarge.  Copyright Lesley Ninnes.

Original Small Painting for October

This painting is currently exhibited at St Ives Society of Artists Festival Exhibition (until 14 October).  I was tempted to hold onto it because I like it so much - don't know why, maybe because of the darkness and contrast or because it captures what it feels like to stand on Porthmeor Beach when everything is moving:  the sea is rushing in and the clouds flying low? 'Winter Force' oil on primed board, black glazed frame, 13.5 x 13.5 cm.   SOLD Click to enlarge.  Copyright Lesley Ninnes.
