A very exciting month of June in the area, so far, owing to the G7 experience! St Ives Bay looked beautiful in the mist and dramatic when draped in ominous clouds, but stunned with breathtaking beauty when the sun eventually came out and decided to stay for the whole weekend. The visual high point for me was reached on the most lovely Sunday evening you could wish for.  We expected them, we didn't mind waiting seated on a sunny patch of grass, a perfect expanse of sea and cloudless blue sky before us, when the Red Arrows appeared silently and fast without fanfare to produce a sublime show of seemingly effortless symmetry and faultless aerobatic manoeuvring, sure to be etched on the memories of the many of us lucky enough to be there. Paintings (below) collected from the framers on Friday afternoon, along with 19 mounted prints and 2 mounted originals, all labelled, wrapped where needed and priced, ready for delivery to  Art Space Gallery, St Ives and St Ives Society of Artists Mariners Gallery. Now mid way through the 2019 St Ives September Festival , on Saturday 21st September St Ives Society of Artists held its annual 'Square Deal' fundraiser offering members of the public an opportunity to buy a piece of original art for £50! I was delighted (and relieved) to be present, when a buyer chose my submission 'Beach, Tranquil Sea' below. 'Beach Tranquil Sea' Oil on canvas, 25.4 x 205.4 cm/10 x 10 inches Prior to visiting Stisa, there was just time to pop into Porthmeor Studios, Back Road West, St Ives to view 'Spot the Artist' 2019. Organised by St Ives Rotary the show included around 400 anonymous postcard sized artworks donated by over 300...

So nice to post fairly early in September, which hopefully compensates for the fact that I didn't blog last month!  Always a busy time to be an artist in St Ives (and that's not a complaint, thanks to all who buy my work) this August saw visits from both daughters, son-in-law and dogs, plus a lovely reunion/get-together of sorts, with the upshot that all painting projects were suspended for around 2 weeks!  Wouldn't have missed it though and the weather was pretty good too. Normal service resumed eventually and here some new and older works.
