September, After the Storm

September is a special month, veering between summer and autumn and if we're lucky bringing the best of both.  Let's hope! I'm glad to be able to share some new small oil paintings on board, already in situ at Art Space Gallery, St Ives. Part of the themed exhibition 'After the Storm' hosted with fellow members of the co-op to coincide with St Ives September Festival, the collaboration has resulted in an exciting, diverse show laced with a thread of optimism for the future. Well worth a visit, the gallery is open Tuesday - Friday, 10 -1pm, 2 - 5pm. 'Reclaiming the Beach' oil on primed board, 13.5 x 13.5 cm. SOLD 'After the Storm, Water Everywhere' oil on primed board, 13.5 x 13.5 cm. 'Forceful Surf, Summer Blue Sea' oil on primed board, 13.5 x 13.5 cm. 'Godrevy Cliffs' and other small paintings on board....

So nice to post fairly early in September, which hopefully compensates for the fact that I didn't blog last month!  Always a busy time to be an artist in St Ives (and that's not a complaint, thanks to all who buy my work) this August saw visits from both daughters, son-in-law and dogs, plus a lovely reunion/get-together of sorts, with the upshot that all painting projects were suspended for around 2 weeks!  Wouldn't have missed it though and the weather was pretty good too. Normal service resumed eventually and here some new and older works. I have also been working on some slightly larger paintings in oil on hardboard, some of which are already at the framers and will provide content for a future post x    'Beach, Good Weather Chases the Rain Away' oil on board, 13.5 x 13.5 cm.
