September, After the Storm

September is a special month, veering between summer and autumn and if we're lucky bringing the best of both.  Let's hope! I'm glad to be able to share some new small oil paintings on board, already in situ at Art Space Gallery, St Ives. Now mid way through the 2019 St Ives September Festival , on Saturday 21st September St Ives Society of Artists held its annual 'Square Deal' fundraiser offering members of the public an opportunity to buy a piece of original art for £50! I was delighted (and relieved) to be present, when a buyer chose my submission 'Beach, Tranquil Sea' below. 'Beach Tranquil Sea' Oil on canvas, 25.4 x 205.4 cm/10 x 10 inches Prior to visiting Stisa, there was just time to pop into Porthmeor Studios, Back Road West, St Ives to view 'Spot the Artist' 2019. New paintings for August and some from July..

Summer, such a hectic, busy time here in St Ives, no complaints though, there's been enough sunshine to keep everyone happy! On the personal news front: All six of the artworks painted with submission to the annual ING Discerning Eye Exhibition  in mind are now at the framer's.  There's still time to enter, click the link to find out more. The  Rotary Club of St Ives popular fundraising exhibition of donated postcard sized art is a high point of the annual St Ives September Festival  and my contribution is already in the hands of the organisers. The ever popular Square Deal Show at St Ives Society of Artists Mariners Gallery is another unmissable September Festival event.  I have my blank canvas, it's unwrapped and a start on it will be made very soon - just need to think about what to paint! Again, click links to access more info.   Here's some new work - the following four paintings will appear at Art Space Gallery, St Ives very soon. '

Spot the Artist

The fundraising sale of 'postcard art' organised by the Rotary Club of St Ives was a great success again this year. The annual event offers members of the public the chance to buy postcard sized pieces of original art for just £35 - many of  which have been painted by well known artists, whose work would normally cost a lot more to buy. ' Cornwall, North Coast ' Lesley Ninnes 2013 oil on paper 21 x 15cm/8 x 6 inches Click to enlarge Rotarian Mike Clough reported: "The sale was held in the Roy Ray Studio at the St Ives School of Painting at Porthmeor Studios. Buyers were already queuing outside the studio by 4.00 p.m. in the afternoon before the sale and by 9.00 a.m the next morning the queue had reached as far as Bumble’s Tea Rooms in Digey Square. We sold over 100 paintings within the first hour of the sale. We had 240 entries given by almost 200 artists, mostly professionals but with a number of gifted amateurs. We sold all
