I'm Back - (probably a bit too soon).

Well, it's a bit embarrassing - warning that I might be offline for quite sometime, possibly a week and here I am, back after less than 24 hours!

Luckily, after half heartedly trying again in the hope that some computer miracle would happen e.g. switch on, wait 30 seconds and hey presto windows desktop appears, displaying most importantly the Internet Explorer shortcut icon (didn't happen) I realised that there were some options open to me, thanks to those little F keys - no, I'm not swearing - F9 I think, allowed me to opt for a 'System Restore'. So that's what I did, restored the computer to its factory condition. Wonderful! Everything's so fast, because, apart from the Internet connection, the computer has no files!

I'm not too worried because there should be some back up via PCWorld. So for now, the sea-blue-sky-abstracts Etsy shop will remain in Vacation mode until I can ensure that the relevant image files are back on my computer.

Thanks for all of the encouraging comments - you're a great bunch. Bye for now.

  8. Dear All

Thanks for the messages of support - my computer problem is something that you're clearly all able to empathise with!! Good luck to those who are also currently struggling with their pcs.

Most importantly, I'm still able to follow and keep in touch - being offline for any length of time, now that would be awful!

  9. Hi Lesley

Hope everything is getting sorted now. Computers have a mind of their own and when the gremlins get you, they get you. I think we all breathe a sigh of relief when our computers turn on ok in the mornings.

  10. Hi Cathy

Well, the printer and the scanner are up and running and latest drivers downloaded so that these old machines can operate on 'Vista'.

The picture files I will deal with 'dreckly' (the Cornish equivalent of Manyana)! Best wishes.

    Lesley

The Rotary Club of St Ives popular fundraising exhibition of donated postcard sized art is a high point of the annual St Ives September Festival and my contribution is already in the hands of the organisers.

The ever popular Square Deal Show at St Ives Society of Artists Mariners Gallery is another unmissable September Festival event.  I have my blank canvas, it's unwrapped and a start on it will be made very soon - just need to think about what to paint!
