A lovely, busy, buzzy August in St Ives continued into September bringing more welcome, summery warm weather  (not today though!!!) and rich autumn colours.  All eight paintings, below, will find their way to Art Space Gallery, St Ives in the next few days. Among other things - working on rectangular boards, driftwood, plywood and canvas - I have managed to finish six more small, square artworks whilst locked down.  See below. During these strange - tragic and grief ridden for so many - times, I am grateful to live in this part of the world and to be able to continue to paint at home as always. And thankful to technology for being able to keep in touch with family, friends and colleagues virtually and by phone.  Some spring-like sunshine was very welcome today, in St Ives and so warm out of the wind, down on the Wharf. So pleased to have these paintings back, looking good in their bespoke white painted wood frames.  Most of them started life in November, early December and were completed in January, 2020. They're probably destined for exhibition at Art Space Gallery, St Ives   (link takes users to the gallery blog page) in the next week or so. Paintings (below) collected from the framers on Friday afternoon, along with 19 mounted prints and 2 mounted originals, all labelled, wrapped where needed and priced, ready for delivery to  Art Space Gallery, St Ives and St Ives Society of Artists Mariners Gallery. Now mid way through the 2019 St Ives September Festival , on Saturday 21st September St Ives Society of Artists held its annual 'Square Deal' fundraiser offering members of the public an opportunity to buy a piece of original art for £50! I was delighted (and relieved) to be present, when a buyer chose my submission 'Beach, Tranquil Sea' below. 'Beach Tranquil Sea' Oil on canvas, 25.4 x 205.4 cm/10 x 10 inches Prior to visiting Stisa, there was just time to pop into Porthmeor Studios, Back Road West, St Ives to view 'Spot the Artist' 2019. Organised by St Ives Rotary the show included around 400 anonymous postcard sized artworks donated by over 300...

So nice to post fairly early in September, which hopefully compensates for the fact that I didn't blog last month!  Always a busy time to be an artist in St Ives (and that's not a complaint, thanks to all who buy my work) this August saw visits from both daughters, son-in-law and dogs, plus a lovely reunion/get-together of sorts, with the upshot that all painting projects were suspended for around 2 weeks!  Wouldn't have missed it though and the weather was pretty good too. Normal service resumed eventually and here some new and older works.
