Now mid way through the 2019 St Ives September Festival, on Saturday 21st September
St Ives Society of Artists held its annual 'Square Deal' fundraiser
offering members of the public an opportunity to buy a piece of original art for £50!

I was delighted (and relieved) to be present, when a buyer chose my submission
'Beach, Tranquil Sea' below.

'Beach Tranquil Sea'
Oil on canvas, 25.4 x 205.4 cm/10 x 10 inches

Prior to visiting Stisa, there was just time to pop into Porthmeor Studios, Back Road West, St Ives to view 'Spot the Artist' 2019.
Organised by St Ives Rotary the show included around 400 anonymous postcard sized artworks donated by over 300 artists, many of whom are very well known.  Sale day was Sunday, 22nd September from 10.00 am, with all artworks priced at £50 each.  Don't know yet whether my submission 'Coast, Big Sky' below sold, but fingers are crossed.  Update:  the painting sold - to the tenth person to walk through the door when the show opened

In this detail, the anaglypta, pink florist's cellophane and paint on canvas can be seen. Reddish/brown transparent glazing in the centre section and swirls of aqua opaque impasto on the right. This includes a piece of anaglypta from Carol Parsons painting class back in March, 2009? This particular piece of wallpaper has already been used to 'print paint to canvas'. Victoria Hilliard produces lovely ceramic pictures inspired by nature, including the portrayal of moths and butterflies. Would I have produced this collage if Tori were not a member of Art Space Gallery? Maybe not. Everything is 'grist to the visual mill' as far as artists are concerned. 'Floral - Pedestal' this painting just evolved. Fun, fun and more fun! 'Floral - Feel Amazing'. I love this artwork! My daughter's boyfriend bought her flowers, including old fashioned roses, which provided the inspiration for the flowers at the top of the painting and the cellophane wrapper is
