Honeysuckle and Sunset

A lovely day, crowned by a beautiful evening - there's no wind and lots of insects, which means that the bats will arrive soon, around 10 pm, at dusk.......

Honeysuckle, with Giant Hog Weed in the background.  The scent of the honeysuckle at night, especially if there's a dew, is so much more fragrant than during the day.

The next photos are cropped to avoid showing clothes lines and also goal posts and flood light poles in the top rugby field!

Photos taken outside again now - so pretty isn't it?  'Whisky in the Jar' playing on Radio Cornwall as I upload this post - and a 'life is good' moment.

Click to enlarge.  Have a wonderful weekend. x

PS  A sliver of the palest crescent moon has just become apparent low in the West as the sky darkens (9.55pm).

  1. Such a beautiful sunset and so nice to see the honeysuckle xx

  2. Did you notice the colors in the sunset match the ones in the honeysuckle? of course you did.
I know I should just be happy for you with that plether of incredilbe afore mentioned honeysuckle. BUT I am a very vile shade of pea green with jealousy.
    hope you forgive me Lesley!

  3. Lovely views and the scent of honeysuckle. Lucky you, thanks for sharing :)

  4. Honeysuckle is just THE sweetest of smells. Hope the evening brought your bats. I love to watch them ...........

  5. I shared this sunset with you! We had lots of bats flitting around the tent too. xxxx

  6. I love honeysuckle - but ours is the scentless kind! :(

But we do have some syringa (Mock Orange) coming out soon, which is always mind-blowing, in the nicest possible way!

  7. Thank everyone - sending wishes for beautiful sunsets for the rest of summer to you all, accompanied by the scent of honeysuckle, presided over by bats, he he! x

  8. Beautiful photos...
    Sounds like you're enjoying life
    Take care

  9. How lovely Lesley ... I adore honeysuckle ... so funny I posted about it too. The honeysuckle up the lane from me is so wonderful right now x

  10. Thanks Jude - I'm loving these light evenings, hope that you're enjoying life out in sunny Crete too. x

Must be a good year for honeysuckle Carolyn - love to see it growing wild in the hedges. x

  11. Just 'found' you through Heartshaped and as I enjoy a good sunset thought I'd leave a comment!

  12. Love the scent of honeysuckle wafting through the bedroom window, same pinkish yellow as yours. Indeed, a " life is good" moment.
