More Love Tokens and a Solitary Flower

Just two Love Tokens this time, placed in nice frames! 'Golden Heart' Token...

'Star' Token....

I reused glittery, holographic Christmas labels, some Christmas wrapping paper, the usual chocolate wrappers, some miniscule beads and a smidgen of fabric.

Then printed the all important words, which were again glued to a mountboard backing for support.

Both for sale in Art Space Gallery, along with three of the first unframed Love Tokens. The other three are on Etsy.

Well, I just couldn't resist photographing this lovely flower, the last but one (there's a bud getting ready to open) produced by my Christmas Cactus. It doesn't flower predictably, but timed it just right on this occasion, with flowers starting to open just before Christmas - and although short lived, the blooms are so pretty, don't you think?

Bye for now, Lesley

  6. Kary, Sybille, Cathy, Carol and Emma - thank you all very much. Hope you are all keeping warm - it's turned chilly here again (3 degrees C this afternoon) and snow has fallen further up the county. I'm wondering if we'll have a white world again tomorrow? Bfn, Lesley

  7. the love tokens are wonderful and your photos of your Christmas cactus make me wish that mine would bloom~!~ my plant was given to me as a small start from a friends much bigger plant and it's quite small . . . it's had a couple of buds that have dropped off before blooming and currently has one that is close . . . am hoping that it will make it and look at it several times a day to make sure it's still progressing~!!~lol
i can only hope that it will someday be bearing as beautiful of flowers as yours does.

  8. Thanks Libby.

My Christmas cactus didn't flower for a long time - apparently some varieties need feeding - and only started producing flowers after I added some slow release plant feed pellets to the pot! Bfn, Lesley

  16. We need the bursts of colour at this time of year, the cactus is stunning. I am watching three hyacinths grow in water, like we did at school, looking forward to the flowers and scent.
I will make a card for my husband, you have inspired me with your lovely ideas.

  17. Hi Milly, thanks for getting in touch - I love to see hyacinths grown in that way, because the roots look so pretty growing in the water. Good luck with the card! Lesley

Summer, such a hectic, busy time here in St Ives, no complaints though, there's been enough sunshine to keep everyone happy!

The Rotary Club of St Ives popular fundraising exhibition of donated postcard sized art is a high point of the annual St Ives September Festival and my contribution is already in the hands of the organisers.

The ever popular Square Deal Show at St Ives Society of Artists Mariners Gallery is another unmissable September Festival event.  I have my blank canvas, it's unwrapped and a start on it will be made very soon - just need to think about what to paint!
