Although not painting right now because I'm blogging (reading, commenting and posting actually, that's a bit decadent in the middle of the afternoon, don't you think?) I have been and am continuing to work on a painting which, with 3 others 'Aurora', 'Undercurrent 2008' and 'Colours of West Penwith' - see wall picture below - will be going to London at the beginning of May.

David Upton, who has links with St Ives and whose parents and grandparents live in the area, has asked Art Space Gallery to provide artwork for his new seafood restaurant 'Coast' in Camden, North London, which opens on 7 May 2009, with a grand launch planned for 19 May. Loosely based on the theme 'Coast', paintings by Art Space artists will hang on the walls of both levels and the stairwell of the restaurant. So if you're in the area after 7 May, why not pop in and have a look.

Have got to go now, to cut the grass - it's a jungle out there!

  1. Oh how I could come to your "grand launch." I will be there in spirit. And your pictures above (or should I say your "arrangement" above, and painting over to the right are easy on the eyes. Even your "painters mess" is beautiful art!

  2. Thanks for the comment Cathie - it's a real boost.

Life in North Carolina sounds wonderful at the moment - beautiful, balmy, easy living weather.

  3. Wow, that sounds fantastic. Congratulations.
Wish I could go but.. no.
    Sad, but no.
Do we get to see any of the other paintings?

  4. Lovely colours on your palette and tools. Good luck with the launch!

  5. If I can get the others to email their images - several of us are just finishing off paintings at the moment! - then they'll appear on the Art Space blog and website in the (hopefully) not too distant future.

  6. Your paintings are lovely and I just adore the photos of your art supplies. Such a pretty blog you have.
Thanks for the sweet words on my own blog. I can't wait to get my etsy shop looking the way I really want it to.

Summer, such a hectic, busy time here in St Ives, no complaints though, there's been enough sunshine to keep everyone happy!
On the personal news front: All six of the artworks painted with submission to the annual ING Discerning Eye Exhibition in mind are now at the framer's.  There's still time to enter, click the link to find out more.

The Rotary Club of St Ives popular fundraising exhibition of donated postcard sized art is a high point of the annual St Ives September Festival and my contribution is already in the hands of the organisers.

The ever popular Square Deal Show at St Ives Society of Artists Mariners Gallery is another unmissable September Festival event.  I have my blank canvas, it's unwrapped and a start on it will be made very soon - just need to think about what to paint!
