London visit, ING Discerning Eye 2014

The intention was to write this post whilst everything was fresh in my mind and here it is, almost 2 weeks after the annual ING Discerning Eye Exhibition 2014 opened at the Mall Galleries in London.... Exiting Charing Cross station, on the morning of Thursday 13 November, I was thrilled to be amidst the imposing surroundings of Trafalgar Square and Whitehall, walking towards The Mall and awesome Admiralty Arch - see the pics below and also photo credits and links.  Didn't take a camera and don't yet have a smart phone - I know, life in the slow lane, huh. Discerning Eye 2014

Happy times, one of my paintings has been selected for Discerning Eye 2014 by Emma Stibbon RA .... The ING Discerning Eye Exhibition will be open to the public from Thursday 13 until Sunday 23 November at  The Mall Galleries, London  SW1.  Admission is free and all the works will be for sale.

Not so many to show in this post, as a good part of October was spent working holiday cover and then there was HOUSEWORK - impossible to ignore any longer!!! At last, I'm getting some paintings online before taking to  Art Space Gallery, St Ives and several are not yet framed. Not complaining though, being busy has been great fun and a big boost to creativity.... Two slightly larger paintings are at the framers in readiness for submission to St Ives Society of Artists  Members Autumn Show..... Some time has also been spent priming fragments of lovely Arches watercolour paper - found under the bed (wish I was joking) - along with some approx A4 sheets of w/c paper, part painted around 6 years or so ago, I think?  The assorted A4 sheets will definitely be re-worked, possibly with watercolour/gouache/acrylic - the paper is just too good to waste! One week into October - time is flying and summer has turned into autumn.  Evenings are drawing in and a bright, silver moon is already shining. Spot the Artist 2014 outcome

'Spot the Artist' annual fundraiser organised by the Rotary Club of St Ives 'More Weather Drama' oil on primed card, 21 x 15 cm/8 x 6 inches Lesley Ninnes  Rotarian Michael Clough writes: "I am pleased to report that this year's 'Spot the Artist' exhibition and sale, which  took place last weekend, was a great success. Allowing for a generous contribution towards expenses from Tanner Trust,  the event raised  almost £8,500, an increase of  25% on last year's  result. This will be distributed during the current Rotary year on a 50/50 basis between local arts charities and organisations and Rotary charities and good causes. As you were one of more than 220 artists who generously gave examples of their work to the event, I would like to thank you very much for your contribution. We were also well supported by members of the public who had started forming a queue outside the School of Painting by 8.30 am on Saturday morning, p

'Spot the Artist' Rotary Club of St Ives 2014

The annual Rotary 'Spot the Artist' public event is underway and can be viewed today - Friday 19 and tomorrow Saturday 20 September - at St Ives School of Painting, from 10 am-4 pm.  Sale of the large postcard size artworks, all priced at £40 each, starts at 9 am on Sunday 21 September on a 'first come, first served' basis.   If you're in the area, make the time to have a look - there are so many desirable works of art to see.  I was lucky enough to attend the viewing preview yesterday evening and felt like a 'kid in a sweetshop' - there are so many to covet!
