'Down the Rabbit Hole' Summer Tour

My nephew James Inkson is performing in a summer tour production entitled 'Down the Rabbit Hole' with Skewbald Theatre a company known for creating 'theatrical experiences in green spaces and unusual places'.

As the first performances were to be held here in Cornwall, albeit a 2 hour drive away at Mount Edgecumbe estate on the Rame Peninsula, we decided that we must go to see him in action!

On arrival we noted that there was a weekend 'Faerie Fest' in progress - it felt a bit like how I imagine Glastonbury music festival to be as there were cars, tents and people everywhere and even some mud (not a lot fortunately) owing to county-wide wind and torrential rain the day before!

What soon became apparent was that the production was being staged as one of the Faerie Fest events - James could have warned us, as we looked a lot out of place!  To be fair (sorry) the fancy dress wings, wands and tiaras in my attic would not have 'cut the mustard' on this occasion as men, women and children were of the strictly woodland faerie variety with the addition of plant matter (ivy, twigs etc) and face painting - it was all very colourful........

Having never attended a 'strolling theatre' before we really didn't know what to expect
of this production

But I can honestly say that it was thoroughly enjoyable - children of all ages were soon enthralled

Members of the audience following the cast to the next stage, with the roof top crenellations of Mount Edgecumbe House visible ahead

The grounds of Mount Edgecumbe sweep down to the River Tamar and Plymouth can be seen on the other side

There was singing and dancing and audience participation - sometimes we had to run to keep up!

Although the weather was quite chilly at times and cloudy, there was no rain luckily

A very different, interesting and entertaining way to spend a Sunday afternoon

The performance took about 2 hours and ended where it began close to the outbuildings of the main house

Cast members were young, versatile, energetic and talented!

Collage two paintings 30 x60 cm

In this detail, the anaglypta, pink florist's cellophane and paint on canvas can be seen. Reddish/brown transparent glazing in the centre section and swirls of aqua opaque impasto on the right. This includes a piece of anaglypta from Carol Parsons painting class back in March, 2009? This particular piece of wallpaper has already been used to 'print paint to canvas'. Victoria Hilliard produces lovely ceramic pictures inspired by nature, including the portrayal of moths and butterflies. Would I have produced this collage if Tori were not a member of Art Space Gallery? Maybe not. Everything is 'grist to the visual mill' as far as artists are concerned. 'Floral - Pedestal' this painting just evolved. Fun, fun and more fun! 'Floral - Feel Amazing'. I love this artwork! My daughter's boyfriend bought her flowers, including old fashioned roses, which provided the inspiration for the flowers at the top of the painting and the cellophane wrapper is
