No shells today

Timing walking the dog between heavy showers, the roar of the waves could be heard before reaching Porthmeor Beach and an unbroken line of white edged St Ives Bay, bright against dark sea and sky. A stiff Westerly wind lifted spray from the breakers and those swells were roaring in. At almost high tide, surges were taking the sea right up to the buildings at the Eastern end of the cove, so it wasn't really possible to walk the length of the beach - well, not without risking getting seriously wet!

These photos convey neither the size, force or noise. Some of the larger rollers, just before breaking, must have been at least 8-10 feet high and the thrust was enough to flip at least one surfer into a somersault. Sadly, I didn't manage any action shots, but take it from me, they were flying!
Click the pictures for a better view - note the horizon, broken by swells.
Luckily there was somewhere to shelter from the fast moving squalls and the dog and I made it back home before a particularly fierce, though short lived, downpour.

Collage two paintings 30 x60 cm

In this detail, the anaglypta, pink florist's cellophane and paint on canvas can be seen. Reddish/brown transparent glazing in the centre section and swirls of aqua opaque impasto on the right. This includes a piece of anaglypta from Carol Parsons painting class back in March, 2009? This particular piece of wallpaper has already been used to 'print paint to canvas'. Victoria Hilliard produces lovely ceramic pictures inspired by nature, including the portrayal of moths and butterflies. Would I have produced this collage if Tori were not a member of Art Space Gallery? Maybe not. Everything is 'grist to the visual mill' as far as artists are concerned. 'Floral - Pedestal' this painting just evolved. Fun, fun and more fun! 'Floral - Feel Amazing'. I love this artwork! My daughter's boyfriend bought her flowers, including old fashioned roses, which provided the inspiration for the flowers at the top of the painting and the cellophane wrapper is
