Catching Up!

Having been a bit slow to post, again, I have included quite a few photos by way of compensation, starting with an unexpected gift from a return visitor to Art Space. Tomoko first called in at the gallery earlier in the year and came back a couple of weeks ago - with her daughter this time. She brought some art cards, including a view of Mount Fuji........

A blank canvas for me to paint..............(click the pic to view the Japanese script on the back of the postcards)

And what do we have here?

Wow! What a wonderful piece of material, measuring 44 x 41 inches, I'm bowled over by the design and colours.

What to do with this gorgeous stuff? My preferred option is to get it hemmed for use as a tablecloth to be arranged diamond fashion over a plain white rectangular cloth on special occasions, like Christmas for example.

Beautiful design, screen printed onto 100% cotton. Thank you Tomoko, it was great to meet you again, and your daughter.

Interestingly, a little investigation via Google reveals that the HQ of Alexander Henry Fabrics is situated in Burbank, California!

Maybe a tablecloth is not such a good idea - I don't want to get marks on it. Any suggestions anyone?

Now here we have a complete change of subject, shells collected on my most recent beach walk, photographed immersed in water to recreate how they looked on the sea shore. Look at the colours - orange, pinks and reds - pulverised by the sea on a regular basis and so giving the yellow sand its underlying warm, 'pinky' hue.

I think these spotty fragments have come from a lobster or crab

Bye for now everyone, I'm off to read some blogs. x

Collage two paintings 30 x60 cm

In this detail, the anaglypta, pink florist's cellophane and paint on canvas can be seen. Reddish/brown transparent glazing in the centre section and swirls of aqua opaque impasto on the right. This includes a piece of anaglypta from Carol Parsons painting class back in March, 2009? This particular piece of wallpaper has already been used to 'print paint to canvas'. Victoria Hilliard produces lovely ceramic pictures inspired by nature, including the portrayal of moths and butterflies. Would I have produced this collage if Tori were not a member of Art Space Gallery? Maybe not. Everything is 'grist to the visual mill' as far as artists are concerned. 'Floral - Pedestal' this painting just evolved. Fun, fun and more fun! 'Floral - Feel Amazing'. I love this artwork! My daughter's boyfriend bought her flowers, including old fashioned roses, which provided the inspiration for the flowers at the top of the painting and the cellophane wrapper is
